The International School of Management Excellence came up with a fabulous event ‘Diwali Dhamaka’ on 29th October 2011 at its campus in Whitefield, Bangalore. The students enjoyed the day thoroughly by indulging in cultural and fun activities.
Director Nitin Garg, Pallavi Jain, director and Chairman of the NVT group along with other faculty members started off the function, by lighting the lamp and seeking divine blessings. The whole college was drenched in colours as ethnic dress code drew a lot of response from the crowd. Once the formal part of the function got over, the stage was set on fire with a variety of group performances, solo dances, traditional items, fashion shows and song numbers. A classical performance by the girls was greatly appreciated followed by an energetic dance item, which left everybody in cheers.
The boys walked the ramp keeping the theme ethnic this time bringing a ‘traditional theme’ to the stage, showing their love for the country.” Nothing could’ve worked better than keeping the theme traditional” says Monica Solanki, General Secretary of the social club. The folk soundtrack added much more poise and grace to the ethnic ramp walk.
A very creative idea by the students gave way to a hilarious skit that left everybody rolling with laughter and cheers. Atul Sachan, who played the role of a modern day Yamraj, the main character of the skit made the whole crowd go crazy. Creativity was showcased in a completely different way when a parody of ‘Give me some sunshine’, relating to the miserable life of a student was sung by Hemant, leaving everybody in peals of laughter.
A dance item prepared by Satya and group with fusion of retro numbers, turned out to be the most entertaining of all. A hint of sarcasm and satire highlighted in the dance performance made it a favourite of everybody.
Solo and group songs by the students, left everyone croon to their favourite tunes. Saavitri and Group sang ‘Dooba’, leaving everybody singing along. The cultural event was concluded with a fashion show that was organised keeping glamour and Bollywood as the theme and girls and boys showcased their ramp walking skills with Deewangi from Om Shanti Om as the soundtrack, was enjoyed by everybody.
Thanks to the Diwali Celebrations, the whole campus was abuzz with excitement and energy. “We really appreciate how quickly the students came together for a wonderful event, despite the busy schedule” said Prof.Preeja Sridhar, coordinator of the Social Club.
